Each month, the websites of ministries, embassies and public agencies generate more than 100 million visits and about 500 million page views.
The Government Information Service (SIG), in charge of coordinating government communication, had recommended that administrations use the same audience measurement tool, Xiti, offered by the company At Internet, in order to harmonize these measurements.
The Government Information Service (GIS) undertook in 2016 to make these audience statistics public and reusable.
The audience data of 97 websites are now available on Data.gouv.fr. For each website, the following audience statistics are provided daily:
- number of visits, number of visitors, number of pages viewed, time spent on the site, bounce rate (visit of a single page) for the whole site
- same indicators for the 50 most visited pages during the day (URL of the page indicated, see below)
- same indicators for the 50 referral sites
- same indicators depending on the type of source
- same indicators depending on the medium used to consult the site
