When and how did the Haut-Rhin become an epidemic? To find out, the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) and the University of Clermont-Auvergne are launching a large-scale epidemiological study. All the inhabitants of the department are invited to respond.
Summoning memories is an exercise that should allow scientists to go back in time and retrace the history of the spread of the virus in the region. " It's a citizen science approach," explains Vincent Breton, in charge of the study.
The objective of the investigation is to try to find out if the virus was evolving before the Christian Open Door gathering (which brought together 2,500 people in Mulhouse last February), what role this event may have played and how the Coronavirus continued its journey afterwards.
All inhabitants of the Upper Rhine are invited to answer a hundred questions.
The estimated response time per household is between half an hour and an hour.
