The eCarto project project was born from an observation: the absence of an inventory of digital education, shared by all, at the level of each school and each territory.
By leveraging public data provided by ARCEP, the French Digital Agency, the Caisse des Dépôts and the French Ministry of Education, eCarto makes it possible to visualize the state of digital education at the level of schools and local authorities. This tool will also help inform public policy, prioritize investments and resources, and share information with local partners.
eCarto lists and reproduces the 4 main ingredients of territorial educational digital technology:
- connectivity
- digital equipment
- services & resources
- and experiments
After a 3-month beta-testing phase, a new version, enriched with new data was released in April 2019.
On the occasion of the launch of the beta version of eCarto, all the data available on the site was analyzed to present a state of the art of digital education at the national level.
It shows that the average terminal equipment (computer, tablet, screen) is one terminal for every ten schoolchildren, one terminal for every five middle school students and one terminal for every three high school students.
