The Occitanie-Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region has created theEcole Régionale du Numérique to offer innovative digital training to job seekers with low-level qualifications.
This "school" is structured not as an institution but as a network of innovative digital training courses, in line with the needs expressed by companies.
The training courses are intended primarily for people who are neither employed, nor in training, nor in study (NEET), school dropouts (including those in higher education), particularly from urban policy districts, or those with disabilities, and women, who are under-represented in this type of profession.
The Region had launched in May 2016, a Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) for communities in Occitania / Pyrenees-Mediterranean.
The region covers 100% of the educational costs and has programmed 2.2 million euros to ensure the 15 sessions in 2017. The community (most often an inter-commune, such as Grand Cahors or Grand Rodez, sometimes a city (Lourdes, Lunel) or even a department (in Lozère), for its part, provides a room and an Internet connection.
- 11 communities had been selected following the Call for Expressions of Interest in 2016:
- The Region is continuing the effort in 2017 with the opening of 4 new branches.
- By the end of 2017, the Regional Digital School will be present in all 13 departments in the region.
- 700 people will be trained in digital skills in 2017.
