The Ministry of Education has just launched a call for projects to accelerate the development of digital tools in primary education. The State is investing 105 million euros from 2021 as part of the recovery plan to support digital transformation projects in all schools.
The ministry also invites communities to make the school "a resource for its territory with the population".
A digital foundation in elementary schools
This call for projects proposes to cover two aspects simultaneously: the basic digital foundation and the digital services and resources made available to teachers, students and families.The projects are developed jointly by the local authorities concerned or their groupings and the teaching teams on the basis of a shared diagnosis and objectives validated by all. Inspectorates and local stakeholders involved in educational action are called upon as needed. The responses contribute to supporting pedagogical innovation and the transformation of teaching practices in the school in the service of the academic success of all students.
Projects participate in whole or in part in the following objectives:
- promote the acquisition of the fundamentals (reading, writing, counting and respecting others) and the individualization of teaching methods;
- strengthen the inclusive dimension of the school;
- promote the acquisition of digital culture and skills by students;
- make it possible to accompany and support students outside of school time;
- foster the relationship between families and the school;
- promote the link between school learning and educational and/or extracurricular activities (contribute to the enrichment of territorial educational projects - PEDT - for example);
- to develop the use of digital technology at school but also around the school, especially during extracurricular activities;
- develop an ENT or a collaborative platform (school-college liaison, etc.);
- to allow each school, throughout the country, to achieve a basic digital foundation combining equipment, infrastructure, resources and digital services;
- to have a certain number of mobile equipments within the schools that can be redeployed punctually to the families of the pupils who are not equipped in case of necessity.
Digital equipment in schools can also contribute to local dynamics
Beyond the pedagogical and educational project, the responses to the call for projects can contribute to the local dynamic.In particular, by allowing the sharing of materials with other audiences, these responses can make the school a resource for its territory by taking inspiration from the following paths:
- media literacy action open to all;
- experimentation with access to online public services, digital mediation or co-productions between students, families, elected officials (e.g. commune website, production of local history or geography resources distributed online, promotion of the territory, etc.)
- at the suggestion of the teaching team, experimentation with online exchanges with parents, particularly in the inter-communal educational groupings (RPI), to consolidate the links between the schools and the families of all the member communes;
- support a policy of education for citizenship.
