A number of frameworks, self-assessment tools, and training programs have been developed, both nationally and internationally, to describe the different facets of digital skills that teachers need to master, to help them assess their skills, to identify their training needs, and to provide targeted training.
Based on these frameworks, tools and programs, the European Commission has undertaken to develop a common European framework for educators' digital competences, called DigCompEdu.
This common framework can contribute to the implementation of regional and national training tools and programs. It also proposes a common approach and language to facilitate dialogue and the exchange of good practices within the European Union.
