To respond to the urgency of this unprecedented context and to facilitate the organization of distance learning courses, the Walloon Government is deploying a specific plan for additional equipment in secondary schools and in the accredited Digital Public Spaces (EPN).
An intervention of 2.500 € is granted for each of the establishments of the ordinary or specialized secondary schools located in Wallonia, by tranche of 500 pupils, in order to allow the acquisition of the minimal material adequate for the capture and the transmission of remote courses. This plan concerns 465 schools.
At the same time, the Walloon government plans to strengthen the equipment and service offer of the accredited digital public spaces (EPN): 167 EPNs currently offer digital support. A grant of 15,000 euros will be given to each certified digital public space (EPN) to " acquire modern equipment that better meets the requirements of the evolving uses of the public most affected by the digital divide.
A cross-border alliance against digital exclusion
Three actors of digital inclusion active in three European regions (Northern France, Walloon-Picardy and East and West Flanders) pool their efforts to launch the Cross&Le@rn platform.With this platform, WeTechCare, Digipolis, Emmaüs Connect and Technofutur TIC have set themselves the goal of training 1,000 digital helpers in 2 years who will support 30,000 people in obtaining digital skills to get out of digital poverty.
