Official information on the progress of the epidemic in France is very fragmented.
Santé publique France provides a daily epidemiological update, including key national figures and the number of confirmed cases by region. The regional health agencies (ARS) and the prefectures publish information at the departmental level, as well as the number of people who have died or are in intensive care.
Around Etalab, a community of developers, datascientists, medical professionals of about 200 people has undertaken to consolidate this data.
The first projects were the collection of official data that the State only offers in a fragmented way, and often in the form of documents. This is a very heavy burden because there are nearly 20 regions, 100 prefectures: everything has to be redone every day.
This community is working to propose several interfaces to expose this data
The contributory tool watch-coronavirus.com offers a consolidated view of the official data concerning the COVID19 epidemic
These consolidated data are available on data.gouv.fr They are available at several granularities: world, country (France), region and department. Data at the department level are currently very fragmentary.
