ARCEP and the Conseil général des entreprises-CGE (formerly CGIEET) are behind the survey "the diffusion of information and communication technologies in French society" renamed "Baromètre du numérique" in 2015.
This survey has been conducted every year since 2005.
The Digital Barometer focuses on the equipment and uses of information and communication technologies.
The questions favored by this barometric study are as follows:
- The rates of equipment of some of these materials and access to services, including fixed and cell phones, the different modes and networks of access to the Internet whether at home or in mobility via computer, tablet or smartphone. The study takes into account the inequalities in access to the Internet, whether voluntary or involuntary, and determines the reasons for non-equipment, whether fixed or mobile.
- The modes of appropriation of these equipments, and in particular, it is a question of knowing the uses of these equipments by the users, possibly their appreciation of the facility of installation, the ergonomics, the reliability and the confidence in the equipments and services. The different possible uses of the Internet are also questioned in order to appreciate those that stand out. The study should thus make it possible to evaluate the factors which, by influencing the accessibility of these new tools, can promote or slow down their diffusion.
- Delivery methods for online goods purchases, their frequency.
