The Human Rights Defender awarded his 2020 thesis prize to Clara Deville for her sociology thesis "Les chemins du droit. Dematerialization of the RSA and distance from the State for the rural working classes".
Clara Deville's dissertation studies the application process for the RSA in a rural area, which is particularly affected by the reforms of digitization and withdrawal of the social state. By examining the stages prior to the administrative process, she highlights the inequality of opportunities for access to the RSA. The results obtained show that obtaining the right to this benefit is more complex for the most precarious fractions of rural inhabitants and that the deployment of the dematerialization of public services reinforces these difficulties.
For Claire Hédon, Human Rights Defender, " this research work is necessary and reminds us how many difficulties people in precarious situations face in accessing their rights.
