In France, the annual digital footprint of an employee is about 800 kg of greenhouse gases and 14,000 liters of water, or 29 km by car per day and 6 packs of mineral water per day worked.
The Responsible Digital Institute in partnership with the Lucie Agency, with the support of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Solidarity, SGS and the FING, has launched the Responsible Digital label (NR).
This label aims to recognize the implementation of a responsible digital approach in private and public companies and organizations.
The NR label is based on :
- A self-assessment toolkit
- A labeling process
- A commitment by the applicant institution to contribute to the operation of the program
- An audit review by reference organizations (SGS or Bureau Veritas)
The Institut Numérique Responsable(INR ), created in 2018, works to reduce the economic, social and environmental footprint of digital technology. Its members include the La Rochelle urban community, GreenIT, associations and NGOs (WWF, Agence Lucie, FING) and companies (SNCF, Pôle Emploi, Groupe La Poste, Société Générale, Engie, Decathlon, MAIF, BNP Paribas Cardif).
A first version of this label label was developed by the University of La Rochelle (which wants to become the first Responsible Digital University) and the GreenIT Club.
