A young linguist, Mathilde Hutin, has undertaken, with the support of the Délégation générale à la langue française et aux langues de France (Ministry of Culture), to identify French-speaking cultural and scientific YouTube channels that are potentially suitable for educational use.
She has selected 350 Youtube channels for the quality of their content.
The 350 channels are arranged according to the disciplines traditionally taught in French schools: literature, language, history, geography, civic education, philosophy, economics, mathematics, physics-chemistry, biology, technology, arts, sports, and, not to leave out the atypical, general culture.
Three final themes have been added: psychology, a discipline often forgotten by traditional teaching, but which can be useful for the general public, especially teenagers; methodology, which is necessary in all disciplines; and resources for younger learners.
Each entry indicates the name of the channel, clickable to the channel itself, keywords allowing the document to be searchable, and its description, either by the video maker or by the author of this database.
This document is freely available and reusable and will be updated periodically.
This inventory of 350 French-speaking cultural and scientific Youtube channels was created by Mathilde Hutin, a doctoral linguist (University of Paris VIII), received support in 2018 from the General Delegation for the French Language and Languages of France (Ministry of Culture) " because of the singular interest it represents in a framework of learning French as a foreign language, language of integration, or, more generally, in a pedagogical or educational framework."
