In 2017, the website-signalement.gouv.fr collected 153,000 reports: 51% concerned scams, 13% concerned attacks on minors, 9% concerned discrimination and 4% concerned messages of apology and provocation to terrorism.
internet-signalement.gouv.fr allows Internet users to report behavior or online content that they consider illegal. These reports are processed by the police and gendarmes of Pharos (platform for harmonization, analysis, cross-checking and orientation of reports) of the Ministry of the Interior.https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/bk4CE/1/
After a peak in 2015 (mainly due to the attacks that hit France that year), the number of illegal content on the Internet reported to the Pharos platform fell in 2016 and again in 2017. Of these 153,586 reports, 51% concerned scams, 13% offenses against minors, 9% discrimination, and 4% were related to terrorism.
Regarding scams, the Ministry of the Interior has announced the forthcoming opening of an online complaint platform, named Thésée (acronym for Traitement harmonisé des enquêtes et signalements des e-escroqueries). This platform will allow to file complaints online for offences such as email hacking, online blackmail, "ransomware" (ransomware) or even "romance scams".
The Ministry of the Interior has also announced the upcoming implementation of an online reporting platform for victims of violence, harassment and discrimination, which will allow them to be guided and accompanied in their efforts.
