For the fifth consecutive year, Sopra Steria Next has published its barometer on the digitalization of public services and its perception among European citizens.
Référence :
75% of Europeans surveyed believe that public services are increasingly digitalized: 86% in France. 62% of Europeans think that they are becoming easier to use: 69% in France and 79% in Norway.
Opinions in the six countries regarding the level of digital advancement in the public sphere vary greatly: 45% of German respondents consider the development of digital services in public administration to be "advanced or very advanced", 81% in Norway (and 75% in France).
This digitization of public services is perceived rather positively by all Europeans. For 82% of Europeans questioned, it simplifies and facilitates the life of citizens: 79% in France. For 73% of them, it contributes to reducing the environmental impact: the French (66%) and the Norwegians are more reserved.
The French, British and Germans are more reserved about the contribution of digital technology to improving the quality of public services. The same is true for the contribution of digital technology to improving the relationship between citizens and administrations.
88% of French respondents (compared to 74% at the European level) believe that the digitization of public services will make access more difficult, if not impossible, for people with a poor command of the country's language or who are not familiar with digital technologies. 79% fear that this digitization will contribute to a decrease in public jobs.
This study was carried out by Ipsos on a sample of 1,000 people in each of the countries studied (France, United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Spain and Italy).
